A stunning conclusion to the sci-fi romance duology by writing duo Krista & Becca Ritchie, The Last Hope is filled with twists and turns you’ll never see coming.

Sacrifice all you have to survive.

Imprisoned for weeks on an enemy starcraft, Franny, Court, and Mykal have sat with an unfathomable revelation. But as they fight to stay alive, escaping prison means trusting a young mysterious stranger. He knows everything about their lost histories, and when answers aren’t given freely, the bonded trio are forced to join a mission. One that will determine the fate of humanity.

Legend says, a baby—the first of her species—has the power to cloak and teleport planets. Tasked with retrieving the infant, Court fears the baby is just a myth, and if they fail, they’ll never find the truth about their origins.

As Court and Mykal grow closer, their linked bond becomes harder to hide, and dynamics change when Franny begins to fall for someone new. Vulnerable and with no choice, the hunt for the baby sends the trio on a dangerous path to Saltare-1: a water world where their enemies can’t die and survival comes at a high cost.

After reading and very much enjoying The Raging Ones, I couldn’t wait to jump into this second installment. Especially with that cliffy still fresh in my mind 😉

I'm ready gif - Google zoeken

As I have said before…sci-fi is not really my thing but these two amazing authors have managed to pull me in from the very first page of the very first book. It was also a bit refreshing, reading something completely different. Just make sure you read the first book, before starting this one 😉

Court, Mykal and Franny’s are in some predicament, but their bond is still as strong as ever, and help is about to come from somewhere (or I should say “someone”) unexpected.. Stork is about to rescue the three…but nothing is for free. They will need to help him out with a new mission….a mission to save earth.

What I enjoyed most of the first book was that I got to read all three POV’s and therefore their thoughts. This way I didn’t feel like anyone was excluded…since not all three of them are romantically involved. In this second installment, we also get a fourth POV, Stork’s.

I myself really enjoyed the introduction of Stork, and I think Franny did as well… they were pretty cute 😉

Court and Mykal managed to even deepen their feelings for one another and it was lovely to be a part of that.

If you are into sci-fi or you are willing to try something new, you should definitely give this series a go.

Oh, how I love this author and anything she writes !! I am a huge fan of shifters, vampires, and demons and so you can imagine my giddiness the day I discovered Suzanne Wright’s books. I have been a stalker fan, ever since.

Writing this review is a bit double for me. This is the 8th and last book in the “Phoenix Pack” series after all and I am not bored yet….not by a long shot. No matter how much I have wanted to read “Dominic’s book (ever since book 1) I am a bit sad now that I am done… I am not ready to say goodbye !! These people are all like family now …if my family consisted of big bad broody alpha wolves that is 😛

Thankfully, Suzanne has stated at the end of this book, that we will be seeing all our favorites again. They will have cameos in the new and upcoming series `Olympus Pride`. And I also have “Shard of Frost” to look forward too and new books in the “Dark in You” series. So no time to be sad really !!

As I have said, I have been a bit in love with Dominic since meeting him in “Feral Sins”. I just knew that this incredible flirt would find an even more incredible mate 😉 But….not a true mate. I liked that…a lot. We have had all sorts of mates in this series and most of them were “true” ones, but I am thankful that Dominic’s story was different. They really made the decision to be together, without fate or whatever deciding for them. I mean Mila’s true mate was right under her nose and she could have fought for him if she wanted to…but she didn’t.

wicked sexy gif - Google zoeken

She didn’t want to be with someone who was in love with another, not even if they were technically “made for each other”. She chose for herself and her choice was Dominic…

This one was definitely another favorite of mine and I can’t wait to read Elliot’s story in Shard of Frost which is gonna be out about the same time this book is !!!

I highly recommend this series and all the others by this author !!

One night can change everything…

Jesse Sykes has lived far longer than his youthful appearance suggests. Becoming a vampire after tragedy struck seemed the only option when his soul was shattered, after all he’s no stranger to having to hide what he is from the rest of the world. But eternal life isn’t without problems or heartache.

With a good job and great friends, Ian Moreton’s life would be almost perfect—if only he wasn’t in love with his best friend. His feelings are unrequited, and in an effort to move on, he takes a chance on a one-night stand with the handsome stranger he meets in a bar.

Jesse knows the risks of becoming attached to a human, but with neither of them looking for anything serious, where’s the harm? At least, that’s what Jesse thinks until his chemistry with Ian proves off the charts.

A second hook-up solidifies their connection…and brings Jesse to his senses. He scrambles to protect Ian from danger, but it’s already too late. With Ian unwittingly drawn into a world he knows nothing about, events are set in motion that will change both of their lives forever, and it’s up to Jesse to steer them safely through it.

I loved the “Regent Park Pack” series by this author and so I was sure I was gonna love this new “vampire” series as well… I mean what is hotter than a badass vamp ??

absolutely nothing gif - Google zoeken

This series actually reminded me a lot of the Regent Park series, especially with the way Ian was introduced to the vampire world.

Now as much as I enjoyed this book…it also really pissed me off because I wanted to kill the villain in this story myself !!!

200-6.gif (646×308)

I actually needed to stop reading a couple of times because I was so angry !!

Thankfully the MC’s were pretty great as were their BFF’s. Ian and Jesse were very sweet together..and hot…lets not forget hot. I myself would have been upset a bit longer than Ian though, but it’s not like he had any choice in the matter anymore anyway.

I was a bit disappointed with the steam level plummeting from beginning to end. If it would have been the other way around that would have been fine, but I don’t really like it when a book starts off all hot and ends lukewarm. Especially because I want to see/read about their connection when things are more serious between them !!

I think this first book was a great introduction to this new series and the world of vampires. I myself can’t wait to see what’s next… I hope it’s Raph’s book. Though I have to say that I am a bit upset with him for making such bad decisions. I expect more from a coven leader and so I hope he redeems himself a bit in the upcoming books.  Continue reading

This is my first review so bare with me, I hope you will enjoy it.

When I first started reading this book I was a bit overwhelmed with the sheer amount of places, and characters I needed to familiarize myself with. After sticking with it, I must say that I am glad that I did because it is definitely worth it.

The story takes us to a Urte, a fictional land which does resemble our own world in many ways. The people, their different belief structures and the on-going friction between certain religions as well as people of different races are similar to what we experience in everyday life and this does make it easy to relate to. The big difference is that Urte is magical.

The book counts down to the Moontide, which is when a magical bridge between the two lands, Antiopia and Yuros, normally divided by water, is accessible due to the retreating tide. This occurs only once every 12 years. When it does, inhabitants of both lands can cross the bridge for a period of one year. They do so for a plethora of reasons, mostly for commercial/trading purposes. Emperors have employed Magi for many years to plunder the lands on the other side of the bridge. A very powerful Magi was also the one who built the magical bridge.

As I previously stated, there are a lot of different povs. Each chapter gives a little back story, also the time (counting down to the moontide) and the place. Almost every chapter focuses on a different character. Some storylines will overlap of course when the characters meet one another and share adventures. That being said, I did not find it difficult to align myself with several favorite characters from the start.

As perhaps any woman might, I was immediately drawn to Elena and her plight. Being torn between her former life as a spy/assassin and her growing attachment to her current ‘targets’ Cera Nesti, a princess and her little brother the crown prince, Timori, she puts herself in a very dangerous position when she decides to abandon her mission and protect those she was meant to assassinate.

We also follow Gurvon Gyle, a master manipulator and Elena’s former boss and lover. Alaron, Elena’s cousin and his best friends, Cym and Ramon. A young girl named Ramita, her best friend Huriya, her childhood boyfriend Kazim and her new husband Antonin Meiros. There are of course many more but each of these have pivotal parts to play in the book. The book contains some political storylines as several characters are motivated by power and a desire to rule but it also has all the ingredients of a great quest inside of it. So I do believe there is something for everyone.

LBGTQ characters are featured in this series which I love because sometimes I find that the fantasy genre is extremely straight! I also enjoy that it has more emotional depth that some more ‘battle’ oriented fantasy series. I love it when characters have emotional depth and are not merely swinging their swords around the entire time. All of the characters’ paths are linked in one way or another which becomes increasingly more obvious while reading. Their threads continue to entangle throughout the three books that follow this one.

It is of course recommend to read the entire quartet but once you start this one, I doubt you will be able to stop. The first book mostly introduces you to the different characters, places and customs so you can get to know them a bit before the author turns all of their futures upside down. Each of them must face new hardships and situations they had not anticipated. I do not wish to spoiler too much so I highly suggest picking up the book and getting transported to this world David Hair has so wonderfully mapped out for us.

Enjoy!!
