It has been a long time since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a new Sloane Kennedy book. To say I was happily surprised when I found out she had written a new stand-alone is putting it mildly.

Everyone that knows me, knows that I am a HUGE fan of the “Protectors” and the “Finding” series. I re-read them all the time and “Finding Hope” is one of my all-time favorite books.

This book is a bit different though. We get a “bodyguard falling for his client trope”. I have to be honest and admit that this isn’t one of my favorite tropes. It has been done a lot lately, especially with “famous stars”, but this time it is a businessman that needs protection…

Said businessman, Jude, doesn’t want any protection though and so he does his very best to sabotage the bodyguards assigned to him. That is not so easy when it comes to Nik though. Nik won’t stand for it… but Nik also stirs something within Jude…

Both men are immediately intrigued by the other. There is instant chemistry and instant lust between these two, but it actually takes some time for these two to “come” together (<-see what I did there)

I actually appreciated the fact that it wasn’t an insta-love kind of story, but I was also mildly irritated by the slow burn … I know I am a basket case!!!

I really enjoyed reading this one, though I have to say that for me, it didn’t top the “Protectors” or the “Finding” series. Those series will probably always stay my favorite. It is hard to top “perfection”

I think lots of you will be overjoyed with a new “Sloane Kennedy” read.

I am a huge S.E Harmon fangirl and I have read and loves many of her books, but out of all of those, Rainstorm and Danny will always be my favorite I think. 

What I love most about this series, is that there is a perfect blend between suspense, humor and romance, which makes for an awesome nailbiting read. There were moments I was laughing my ass off, because Rain must be one of the funniest characters I have ever met, and then there were moments I was on the edge of my seat holding my breath.

And let’s be honest here… this book has ghosts!! Do I need to say more??

I think the creepfactor goes up a bit with each book, which I am fine with. As long as there are also funny and loving parts, I am a happy little camper. 

By the way things ended, I am hoping there will be plenty more books. I am sure I could read 50 more books in this series and still be entertained by Rain, Danny and their entourage.

We shall hope and see…..

This is the second book in the Prime Time series, after the previous one left us with quite a cliffy… boy do I hate cliffies!!! Which sucks for me because we get another one with this book 😛

Anyhows… this one picks up right where book one ended…

Xander and Sean are falling deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole of love… but there is a bit of a dark cloud hovering above them because of Xander’s stalker situation and the aftermath of what happened in the first book.

No worries though… these guys are all kinds of cute together. I loved seeing them “healing” together, while their love for one another grew. I really have a weak spot for detective “Dick” 😛

Can’t wait to get my hands on the next book, even though I hate cliffies… I will gladly deal when it comes to Ella Frank 😉

I had an awesome time reading this one and it was exactly what I needed. It made me feel good and that is always a big plus in my book 😉

I loved the writing style of this one and being new to Alexis Hall, this is good news, because this means I can now start a whole new list of books to my TBR list.

Now as funny as this book was to me, it’s not all there is to it. There were definitely some other emotions involved while I read this one, though the snark and banter were my favorite 😛

It took a while for the characters to grow on me, but once they did, I was all in. I could have done with an epilogue though… It is one of my pet peeves, I just NEED one 😉

All in all an awesome read and I will definitely be checking out more work by this author.

I love reading mystery and suspense. There was a time when that was the only genre I read, but then came romance and MM romance and I was hooked… Layla Reyne gives me a combination of all and I really appreciate that 😉 

Now let me start off by saying that this is a mystery/suspense first…all the rest takes a backseat in this story but that doesn’t mean it is less important. It is not a hearts and flowers book though, so don’t expect too much on the love and kisses front. Though there are kisses…. 

While the suspense builds, so does the sexual tension between Lincoln and Carter.

The slow build was extremely slow in this one and even with my love for all the mystery, I have to admit I could have done with a bit more romance… 

Still, it kept me on the edge of my seat and I was utterly captivated…

If you are a fan of the mystery/suspense genre and you don’t mind the romance taking a backseat, then you should really give this one a go.

Everyone that knows me, also knows that Sloane Kennedy’s “Protectors“ series is one of my all-time favorite series….that along with all the other amazing spin-off’s she has written. I can’t believe this is already the 13th book in the series!! 

And I still hope there will be many many more…

I do want to give some advice to those of you planning to read this book (and you should). I am normally a pretty reckless reader…meaning, I don’t care about reading orders and all that, I just do what I want…

..But when it comes to this series, I do recommend to read all the books in order, and in this case, to also read the novella, Protecting Elliot. If you don’t, you might feel like you have jumped into an ongoing story and you could get a bit confused.

Protecting Elliot is about Cruz and Elliot. Cruz is Matias‘ brother and Elliot is Sam‘s son. Matias and Sam are the main characters of this story. They meet through a horrific ordeal at the end of novella 9,5 and their story picks right up in this one. 

We get a bit of an age gap, which I always think is yummy and there is plenty of hurt/comfort for those graving it… It also wouldn’t be a Sloane Kennedy book without the delicious steamy scenes 😛

As is the case with most of the main characters in this series, both men carry some substantial emotional /psychological baggage. But no worries…they will work it out together in plenty of ways 😉

That said, I am gonna be honest and admit that this one was not my favorite of the series. I think this is mostly because I feel nothing for the “dead spouse” trope. I usually skip these kinds of tropes, but we are talking Sloane Kennedy here and there is no way I was gonna skip this book. So…this one not being my fave..it’s a personal issue and I think most won’t have that problem and are gonna love everything about it. 

Besides, even I can’t love them all the same, and I did still enjoy reading it, even though reading, for me in these hard times, is not the same. I find the most comfort in my golden oldies right now and so… 

I think it might be time for a “Sloane Kennedy series” re-read ….
